Tomatoes, cucumbers, you know the stuff we are famous for will be available. We will be having Hagerman Watermelon this weekend! The cantaloupe are amazing - the fruit stands smells like a big ole' cantaloupe - MMM! We have strawberries, cantaloupe, blackberries, blueberries and lots more, so don't be shy, come on out and check us out.

If you are bummed that you couldn't get your bountiful basket. Woods gardens is offerent an Abundant Bag filled with all kinds of yummy treats. You will even get a dozen eggs, some cheese curds and regular produce that you are used to eating and that your family loves. For a mere $15.95, I'll bag it and have it ready for you to pick up at three convenient locations - Woods Gardens, The Rexburg Farmers market or the Idaho Falls Farmer's market. Woods Gardens Strawberries!

The Idaho Falls Farmer's Market will still be at the Broadway Key Bank on Saturday, July 10th. However, the city has a water main problem on Capital avenue, so there will be a one lane entry/exit into the Bank ATM parking lot - please plan on coming, this is our big Berry Festival and the vendors have stocked up on berries, so don't miss out. You can still park at the library and walk across the street. There is also parking at the old Savings Center on Memorial drive. We will try and do everything possible to get you in and out safely. Hormone Free Chickens

We are carrying hormone free chickens - they are fresh not frozen, however whatever we don't see on Friday and Saturday will be going into the freezer, then we will have frozen ones. The price is $1.95/lb for fresh ones.

Idaho Cherries for the 4th of July.

We will have Idaho cherries this coming weekend. We are open at the farm here at 1882 E. 350 N., St. Anthony. Monday - Friday 10-7 and Saturday's 10-6. On Friday's from 4-8 p.m. we will have a booth at the Rexburg Farmer's Market by the tabernacle (behind Taco Bell). On Saturday from 9-1 we will have a booth at the Idaho Falls Farmer's market by Key Bank on the river. Stop in and see us. We have been getting some of the best watermelon for this time of season. Looking forward to seeing you.

Over 14,000 strawberries planted in three days!

We had a fabulous crew this year planting strawberries from Thursday to Saturday and we had all kinds of weather. Great job!!

Yeah, it's finally stopped raining and the crops are looking great. The workers are down weeding, because the water certainly got them growing.

We have produce at our stand!

Cherries, Watermelon, Honeydew, Cantaloupe, Blueberries, Raspberries, Woods Gardens Cucumbers are all available starting Friday, the 26th of June. Come on out and check us out!

We will be at the Rexburg Farmer's Market on Friday from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday at the Idaho Falls one from 9-1.

Rain Rain Go Away Come Again Another Day

We are in the process of building an ark - or we need to be. The rain keeps coming, fortunately we have the cucumbers and tomatoes in the greenhouses, if not we may not have any produce to sell. Most of our crops seem to be OK with the exception of the corn and strawberries - the rain may have stunted it's growth and the strawberries aren't doing well in all the wet - we have lost at least 1,000 plants due to the rain, so if you would please pray for a little sunshine it would be greatly appreciated.

The asparagus has been doing fine, we just picked another 9 lbs. tonight and over 13 yesterday.

Cherries will be on at the end of the month.

Strawberries are planted! WHEW! What a job!

We had a crew of 10 people last Saturday to help us plant the strawberries. We got 11 rows done, got 17 left. I got a nice sunburn out of the deal and some stiff and sore muscles (or fat - I don't think they have turned to muscle yet).

Seeds for Sale

Get your garden seeds here! Dave has put together some garden seeds that he knows will grow here. We also have seed potatoes (30 cents lb.) and later we will have raspberry starts. He's got a nice variety of seeds to choose from. So give him a call (201-4598) and make sure he's here before you make the trip. Another new addition is yard fertilizer - with humates (stuff that breaks down the dead grass from last year).

I don't know about you, but the voles had a HUGE party in our yard this winter - I will be suprised if we even have a lawn this year. Combine that with the deer droppings and we'll have fertilized vole holes. YEAH!!

The farmers market starts on May 2nd - my vacation is almost over. Looking forward to seeing all of you again.

Spring is coming in the greenhouse.

Well, Dave's vacation is about over, he has started planting things in the greenhouse. His tomatoes are about 1 inch high and we just planted 100 + strawberries in the backyard system - he's trying one in the greenhouse. Looks like it should do great.

Dave aka Michael Jordan is hobbling around on crutches - he was the star basketball player last Wednesday and wasn't able to finish the game - he sprained his knee. He's able to hobble out to the greenhouse and tend his babies and then we put bio-freeze on his knee so he can watch the Jazz on TV.

I'm still working at the site and hosting little girl's tea parties. Last Saturday I had 8 little girls over for tea. It was hectic and fun, of course the dish washer had to break the day befor and it got reinstalled 15 minutes before the tea started, so it was a bit hectic, thanks to my sister-in-law and her lovely daughters, everything worked out great. I'm so grateful that they were willing to jump in and help. Between the broken knee and the dishwasher I was at my wits end. Hopefully everyone had a nice time, I know I did.

We now carry canned peaches, pears, apricots, dark bing cherries, light raineer cherries. YEAH! We didn't think we were going to be able to get them this year, but Dave's persistance paid off and we now have them.

Well, it appears that fall is here. A bit of frost on the pumpkin. We will be having early elberta peaches next week - yes, they are also called lemon elbertas. MMM, I love peaches. Our strawberries still aren't producing very well, hopefully next year we will have an abundance of strawberries. Be patient, they still could come through.

I just wanted to thank all of you that have been our faithful customers for this past year. We opened the fruit stand up 6 days a week and are delighted with the turnout. We have had a few bad checks and that doesn't really make us too happy, but we are trying to keep our heads above water.

We should have the canned Hells Canyon peaches in mid October early November, they are very popular and taste great.

See you next Saturday at the market in Idaho Falls. Pray that it doesn't freeze real soon, we still have 3000 tomato plants out there with green tomatoes.

Fall is on it's way

As most of you know, Friday is the day to be at Woods Gardens, Dave makes a trip to Marsing on Thursdays to bring you fresh fruit, peaches, blueberries, then he drops by Emmet to get blackberries and Hagerman to get watermelon, then Gooding to get that awesome cheese (7 different flavors of cheese curds and the best Greek Grilling Cheese). He gets home between 9:00 and 10:00 p.m. Thursday night, so if you need some weight lifting, stop by and help us unload.

We also, have our own Cantaloupe and Watermelon and canning tomaotes. The pickling cucumbers have been plentiful this year. Green beans are almost done (unless you want to come and pick). The pumpkins are looking good and we have some great eggplant. The Walla Walla onions are doing great too. The dutch Cabbage is about ready for you to turn in to Sauerkraut.

Thanks for supporting Woods Gardens this past year - just remember we are not open on Sundays. Thanks for stopping by to check, but we need to give one day to God who made all of this possible.

Last weekend at the Farmer's market was the Watermelon Festival. Dave's son Quentin and his family came to help. Little Macee was too excited that we had Daddy Long Leg spiders there and Race just wan't sure what to think. Tara has done a great job with the kids.

Summer has finally arrived

Things are looking up at Woods Gardens, the strawberries are finally ripe - we picked our first flat yesterday. We will have tons of pickling cucumbers, the red potatoes are looking great and we have some awesome looking corn. The broccoli is doing well and Walla Walla onions - MMM! Thanks for all of your support so far, we are opened on Saturdays now from 10-6. Monday through Friday 10-7.

I never thought summer would get here, hopefully things stay nice until we harvest everything. Take care and have a great month - it appears that I only get to update this once a month.

Enough with this Winter Weather!!

We've had enough winter this year - it's June and it's still crappy weather - I say ENOUGH@!@! So much for what I think. We have made some progress - after the lovely snow crashing our makeshift fruit stand this winter, we got a new fruit stand put up. It looks really nice - hard walls and all - next thing to add is the garage door - we just got bids today for that.

The tomatoes (all 2500 of them) are ready to go in the ground - weather permitting. Actually, we've been waiting for a new pump - we are going to drip tape the entire field down the road - that will make things much nicer. Dave has been working hard at getting things planted between snow/rain storms. Now he has to deal with the wind. The first pump arrived crushed - it's pretty big, so not sure what crushed it, but it went back and we got a new one. Battery not included. Dave had to run to town tonight to get a battery and cables. We should be good to go tomorrow. I'm sure glad I have an office job, this hard work would kill me - probably be good for me, but kill me.

We went to Pocatello after church yesterday, thought we'd drop in and see Macee and Race, but they were out galavanting around visiting their other grandma in Blackfoot. Guess we'll catch them next time.

What a delightful Easter

Quentin, Tara, Macee and Race came to visit on Saturday night, the girls had a little pamper night while the boys watched Basketball, it was the best of both worlds. Then Sunday, Nick and Candace came for dinner. It was a nice time - had potential of being a quiet Easter, but Macee and Race took care of any dull moments at the Woods'.

The greenhouse is doing good, radishes are on the menu right now, the rest are in the growing season. Dave has tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, spinach, lettuce, egg plant and onions started right now. They are all looking good. It's still too cold to turn on the big greenhouses. Today he will transplant tomatoes to larger pots.

Ice and Snow, we are sick of it. Dave took a spill on the front step last week and is still suffering. I'm so ready for it to be gone.

I left Saturday morning at 6:00 a.m. for Salt Lake to do some shopping and go to a play with my sister and then watch my nephew compete in the Cast Iron Chef competition. He competed with 14 Utah chefs and he took first in the main dish cooking Black and Blue Moose Steak. It definately looked great and must have tasted as good.

The weather Saturday was AWFUL - we all thought we were getting out of the cold and into Sring in Utah, but we were wrong, there were wrecks every few feet by Ogden. It was still snowing Sunday when we left at 4:00, but it wasn't sticking like Saturday.

I took three friends with me and we all separated and did different things and then hooked up and rode home together. It was too fun!!

It's 23 degrees this morning, much better than the 8 degrees we had yesterday. I'm wishing this snow would go, we still have a bout 3 feet of snow everywhere. UGH! It's slowly melting from the roof, which makes a nice skating rink on the sidewalk. I'm off to work. Bandit just had breakfast, she's had a bladder infection and has been very naughty, she's feeling much better after Dave took her for a ride to see the vet. She's been very grateful since she got home.
